Quote of the day

Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory.
- Albert Schweitzer

This seems to me a beautiful quote. A good memory only conspire against your happiness. Because remember means remember bad things algonside with good moments, facts, or simple memories. But our nature always decide to show strongly the bad part of the past. So, bad memory means an aid to reach the happiness.
Well done, Albert!

What do you see when you face troubles?

One more thing that makes me happy is to leave a problem solved. Yes, you can tell me that this is true for almost 99.99% of people working these days, and the rest are in the insane asylum. Of course.

But I have to explain. In my daily work I face troubles every day. That is my job, and the reason why my company pays my salary. All day I am working with more or less difficult problems. When I face a problem or simply a diificulty for the normal running of things, I first focuse in my soul. Yes, in my soul. I try to get it calm, resting, and clear.

The worst part of solving a problems is not to have the tools. And the numer one tool that you need is your soul. It controls your brain, and your head cannot think properly if your soul is nervious, disturbated or angry. So, first stage, be calm.

Second is to govern your brain, put your brain to work and examine options, solutions, and espaces always towards ahead. Not back. And magically, solutions appear, and optione emerge to solve your problem.

All this process every day maje your adrenaline up and up. And this is a pleasure with no imitations, is a physical pleasure, including sensations in your body. That phenomenum makes me happy.

Internet makes me happy

Yes, you can say how it is possible?. But I have to explain it. When internet began to be massive, in the first part of 90s, I have a lot of expectations about it. It was so new, so amazing, that it could be called a humankind dream. Of course it is not so important, but a lot of hopings were made reality.

First of all, productivity gre up to limits never known. I have a lot of things in my everyday work that its impossible to think to make them without internet. Second, communications. A lot of com tools were developed to reach a high performance connecting people all around the world.

And third, culture. A big librarian free for all and collecting every day a lot of documents, papers, articles, knowledge that is being disseminated around the globe and for all people who can read.

Yes, internet makes me happy.

Be happy with small things

Today I have an example of to being happy with small and often negligible things. I was at my office, working hard as every day, and my boss phone me. He was worried about a big project that I am managing, and particularly about a supplier that could be less commited than what we thought. He asked me very hungry about that.

My answer was simple: you trusted me when we contracted five months ago, so you have to trust me now, the men is serious, he will not fail.

Then he answered: ok, I believe in you. You always get the goal, you are a “safe man”, what was I thinking when I came afraid?.

OK, this are the simple things that make me happy. Do you?

We are all interested in happiness, of course. But, how we really can be happy?

April fools day originals

Well, I do not how many people like April Fool Day jokes, but sometimes there are surprising and can astonish some people. This is my case with two blogs: John Chow and Democracy Centre

The first refers to a new launch: official Coca branded with John Chow. It could be believable, but in fact when you know that AFD is coming, you are prevent to take it seriously.

However, my problem is with the second one: The post reveals, with many details, the upcoming plans of Halliburton to take over a great part of Bolivian country. It describes what they plan to do, and what is coming to happen with some symbols like the flag and the Magnificas. (Uah uah, take a look…)

It is false, but can be true. I suspect that people in Democracy Centre know very well the Bolivian country political situation, and this joke is not really a joke. It can be true, and this is the tragedy behind the joke.

I think that this people have to take into account the realities when making a false new, because reality could be worst than the worst of the nightmares.

Success and your mind

Filed under: Happiness — johnscali @ 9:40 pm

One thing that makes me feel happiest is the internet. I think is the major revolution during twenty century and will pass a lot of time to fully exploit it and to have another so big instrument implemented. But one of the fascinating aspects of internet for me is the capability to find other people around the globe that think the same that you think.

This is a wonderful effect of blogs, for example, because blogs are sites where common people write.

In this case, I found a very good article about thinking in World Success, a site that I visit regularly. This article is about the advantages of the habit of thinking regularly every day. Is not only an idea that I agree, it is a practice natural for me. I take every night an hour or two some days in thinking about my job, my life, my dreams and so on.

Of course the article is very well written, much better that this one. I recommend that you read it and follow its advice.

Do you like your job?

This recurring question always follows me. I worked in many countries and in different positions. I have had jobs in small and big companies. I have had secondary jobs, and very well expected positions. Nevertheless, always the question is the same: do I like my job?

Now the answer is a sound yes. Mi actual job is a Project Manager position. I have the complete responsibility for planning, procurement, construction and commissioning of a big electrical infrastructure project. But these are not the important question.

The position itself is an exciting job. I have to consider many aspects. I feel that all the work is in my back, and failure and success is in my mind. I have a very skilled team, and this is a great support for me, but my feelings are that all the sort of the work will depend of my creativity.

I feel happy with this responsibility. I feel very happy. I am very glad with this destiny. Moreover, I am working very hard to success.
